MindNode has been around for a long time: it is tried and true. While I keep trying others, such as Xmind (Mac only) and iThoughts, I keep coming back to this one. It sticks to mindmapping functionality, with a few enhancements, so you cant make it into a general-purpose glorified drawing tool or database tool. This keeps the app both focused and clean. I find that MindNode is a little more polished than other mindmapping apps, generates gorgeous mindmaps without fuss, synchronizes nicely across iCloud, and supports a Mac version. There are plenty of free mindmap apps, but you get what you pay for. As for any "missing" features, if you feel you need a really fancy enhanced graphic for publication or presentations, you can easily export the final mindmap to a tool that understands OPML, like OmniGraffle. Personally, I have yet to find any reason to try and "beautify" what MindNode creates.
